Lithium batteries for Club Car golf carts

Club Car is one of the most common carts on courses and in neighborhoods, and it is also one of the easiest to get wrong when you order batteries, because the DS, Precedent, Onward, Tempo and Carryall use different compartments, and the Precedent changed between 2008 and 2009. Every kit here is listed for the Club Car model it was built for.

Which Club Car do I have?

  • DS: the classic squared-off body, built for decades in 36V and 48V.
  • Precedent: the rounded body introduced in 2004. Some kits are split into 2004-2008 and 2009+ carts.
  • Onward and Tempo: newer models that share the Precedent's battery compartment in most kits.
  • Carryall: Club Car's utility vehicle. Only kits that list the Carryall fit it.

Your serial number plate also tells you the model and year. If your Club Car has an onboard computer (OBC), ask us whether you need an OBC bypass for a lithium charger.

Before you order: check your cart's voltage (count the batteries and multiply by the voltage on each), the model year where it matters, and the battery tray. Use the Fitment Guide to filter every kit we sell by make, model and voltage, or send us your cart details and we'll confirm the fit.

Choosing Club Car Lithium Batteries

  • Match your cart's voltage: six 6V batteries = 36V; eight 6V, six 8V or four 12V batteries = 48V.
  • More amp-hours (Ah) means more range. Lifted carts, 4- and 6-seaters and hilly routes need more.
  • Lithium needs a lithium charger. Most conversions also need a 12V converter for lights and accessories.
