About Interstate Batteries

Interstate Batteries was founded in 1952 and is one of the best-known battery names in North America, sold through a large network of distributors and dealers. Along with car and truck batteries, Interstate makes a full line of deep-cycle golf cart batteries and recycles lead-acid batteries at scale.

Interstate Batteries product lines

For golf carts we carry Interstate's deep-cycle line: the GC2 6-volt batteries (GC2-ECL Extreme Cycle, GC2-HCL, GC2HC and GC2XHC flooded, and the sealed GC2-HD-AGM), the GC8-HCL 8-volt and the GC12-HCL 12-volt. Most come with more than one terminal style at the same price, and you choose yours on the product page. Every model is also offered as a complete set for a 36V or 48V cart: six or eight 6V, six 8V or four 12V batteries. We also carry Interstate's LIGC48V100 48V lithium golf cart battery.

Warranty

Interstate's free-replacement period depends on the model: 12 months on the GC2-ECL, GC2-HCL, GC2-HD-AGM, GC8-HCL and GC12-HCL-UTL, 6 months on the GC2HC and GC2XHC, and 60 months on the LIGC48V100 lithium battery (part of a 10-year limited warranty). Each product page lists its period. See Warranty for details.

Choosing golf cart batteries

  • Match your cart's voltage: six 6V batteries = 36V; eight 6V, six 8V or four 12V batteries = 48V.
  • More amp-hours (Ah) means more range. Lifted carts, 4- and 6-seaters and hilly routes need more.
  • Lithium needs a lithium charger. Most conversions also need a 12V converter for lights and accessories.
