A golf cart pack is a chain. The weakest battery limits the whole string. Dropping one new battery into five tired ones makes the new battery carry the load, and it fails early. That is why a single-battery swap is a false savings on a cart that is used as a cart.
What to match
Match the count, the voltage, the group size, and the terminal. Six GC2 batteries are not interchangeable with six GC8 batteries. The GC8 is taller and it is 8 volts. The cables have to land on the same terminal style you have now: S, UT, UTL, or marine. When one battery really is enough
A battery that fails in the first weeks, with the rest of a new set still healthy, is a warranty battery, not a reason to replace five good ones. Note the date and send us the serial number. Outside that window, if two or more batteries are weak, buy the set.
