A garage traps heat and traps hydrogen from a gassing flooded charge. Ventilate. A carport dumps rain and salt on the port.
The answer for charging in a garage versus a carport
Neither location changes voltage. Both change maintenance. On charging in a garage versus a carport, that step is not optional.
A lithium charge in a closed, hot garage waits. A lead charge in the rain needs a dry port.
The use changes amp-hours, charging habits, and corrosion. It does not change how series voltage works, and it does not assign a local driver to that use.
Hold that answer while you read the shop notes under it. The notes are the same rules we use on every cart. The answer above is the part that is specific to charging in a garage versus a carport.
What a Bedrock kit includes
Bedrock Battery is based in Peachtree City, Georgia, and sells cart-specific conversion kits. Six sizes: 36V 105Ah, 48V 65Ah, 48V 105Ah Compact, 48V 105Ah Slim, 48V 150Ah, and 72V 105Ah. The two 48V 105Ah shapes hold the same 5.38 kWh. The 48V 105Ah battery weighs 95.9 pounds and is rated up to 6,000 cycles.
The kit includes the battery, a waterproof 15-amp lithium charger, a charge port, a state-of-charge meter, the bracket, ring terminals, and bolts. It does not include the 12-volt converter. Kit warranty is 10 years and transferable. Heated versions exist for cold charging. Ask about lead time. Lithium golf cart kits from every brand we sell ship free to the lower 48 by curbside truck freight.
Pay later at checkout
Affirm, Klarna, and Afterpay are enabled as Stripe payment methods for this store. You will see the methods Stripe offers for that order when you check out. Availability depends on the order total, the currency, and Stripe’s decision for that customer. The floor we talk about on the site is for orders in the range those methods are aimed at. This article does not promise a 0 percent rate, and it does not promise that a button is on every product photo.
Pay later does not change fitment. A financed wrong kit is still the wrong kit. Confirm the cart first, then choose how to pay.
Storage when a cart sits
Seasonal homes, island houses, and lake cabins leave carts parked. A flooded pack left discharged sulfates. Charge it fully before you leave, and arrange a top-up if the sit will be months. AGM tolerates sitting better and still should not be left flat. Lithium prefers the storage state of charge in its own manual, which is not ’empty’ and not always ‘100 percent forever.’
Unplug a charger that is not a maintained float designed for that chemistry. Take the key. If the storage is humid or salty, clean the posts before you walk away. A cart that sits on a flooded garage floor in a storm zone should have the charger and the batteries up off the slab.
Car batteries do not belong in a golf cart
A car starting battery is built to deliver a short burst and then be charged by an alternator. A golf cart battery is a deep-cycle battery, built to be discharged and recharged. Six car batteries in a cart will sag, sulfate, and die early. They are also the wrong height and the wrong post for most trays.
The same warning applies to a random 12-volt deep-cycle from a trolling-motor aisle if you are about to series four of them without checking the tray, the cable gauge, and the charger. Four 12-volt deep-cycle golf batteries can be a legitimate 48-volt string. Four car batteries cannot. Ionic and Antigravity starting batteries in this shop are for mowers, boats, and powersports, not for traction in a Precedent.
The photos that stop a wrong order
Send the make, the model, the year, and the voltage you counted. Photograph one battery label so the volts and the terminal are visible. Photograph the tray with the seat up. If the cart is a Precedent, say whether it is 2004-2008 or 2009-later. If it is a Drive, say whether it is 2007-2010 or 2011-and-later or a Drive2. If it is an RXV, say metal tray, plastic tray, or factory ELiTE.
A serial number helps when the year is in doubt. A marketplace photo of the exterior does not. We would rather wait a day for a tray photo than ship PR04 hardware to a 2012 Precedent, or a 2012 kit to a 2006.
The state-of-charge meter
A Bedrock kit includes a round state-of-charge meter. Allied sells a Comm Port meter. A lithium meter reads that pack. A lead-acid fuel gauge that was wired to a string of 8-volt batteries will not tell the truth on a single lithium battery, and it may not have a 12-volt supply until the converter is installed.
If the meter is blank after a swap, check the converter and the meter plug before you condemn the battery. If the meter shows full and the cart still sags, believe the sag and do the load check. Gauges stick. Hills do not.
How series voltage is counted
Golf cart voltage is the batteries added in series, not a sticker on the nose of the cart. Six 6-volt batteries are 36 volts. Six 8-volt batteries are 48 volts. Eight 6-volt batteries are also 48 volts. Four 12-volt deep-cycle batteries are 48 volts. A 72-volt lead string is its own layout. Count the cases and read the voltage printed on one of them before you order.
A previous owner may have changed the pack. The body will not show it. A photo of one label and a photo of the tray with the seat up is the evidence. If two batteries in the tray do not match each other, the cart is not ready for a new single battery. It is ready for a diagnosis.
The charger has to match the chemistry
A lead-acid charger and a lithium charger are not interchangeable. A Bedrock kit includes a waterproof 15-amp lithium charger. Allied commercial packages include a waterproof lithium charger and a charging harness. Use that charger. Take the lead-acid charger out of the cart. Do not leave it plugged in ‘as a spare.’
A lead-acid set keeps a lead-acid charger. An automatic charger that reaches a full charge and then stops is what you want. A charger that never terminates, or that cooks a flooded battery hot, is a charger problem, not a reason to buy a bigger battery. Match charger voltage to pack voltage. A 36-volt charger on a 48-volt pack will not finish the job. A 48-volt charger on a 36-volt pack can overcharge it.

The price for charging in a garage versus a carport is the price on the product page, not a number in this article. Lithium golf cart kits from every brand we sell ship free to the lower 48 by curbside truck freight. Parts, chargers and small batteries ship free on orders of $150 or more, or $14.95 below that. Interstate lead-acid batteries ship on a freight quote: we call you with the price before we charge shipping. We ship charging in a garage versus a carport. We do not list a storefront address. Local delivery is only the area named on the shipping page. A city page on this site is not a statement that a driver covers that city.
