Battery tips

How-to and maintenance for lithium and lead-acid golf cart batteries.

Bedrock 48V 105Ah lithium golf cart conversion kit

Lead-acid set for a Yamaha Drive

The Drive year split, 2007-2010 versus 2011 and later and Drive2, is a lithium-bracket split. The lead-acid voltage is still whatever the labels say.

When a new lead-acid set is the better buy

Buy a new lead set when the charger already works, the tray is stock, the cart does a short day, and someone will water a flooded pack or you are willing to pay for AGM.

How to set a new lead-acid pack in the tray

Set every battery in the same orientation the cables expect. The main positive and the main negative should land where the controller leads already are, without a stretched cable.

Core charge on a set of six or eight

The core is $18 per flooded or AGM battery, not $18 per order. Six batteries are six times $18. Eight are eight times $18. Four 12-volt batteries are four times $18.

Storage charge for a lead-acid set

A flooded pack that sits discharged sulfates. Charge it full before a seasonal house, a summer-only camp, or a winter of non-use. Match the cart by make…

Amp-hours versus voltage

A 48-volt 65Ah pack and a 48-volt 105Ah pack are the same voltage. A 72-volt pack is not a larger 48. Match the cart by make, model, year, and voltage…

Sizing a pack for two-seat golf

A two-seat loop back to a charger at the turn is a smaller energy job than a cart that is somebody’s car. Match the cart by make, model, year, and voltage…

Sizing a pack for a four-seat cart

Four people and a bag well pull more amps than a driver and a wedge. The voltage stays whatever the cart was built as. Match the cart by make, model, year…
